I bought this for me and my son. We both play some racing games on the PS2, and we play NFS as well. This steering wheel wasn’t used long, for only one reason: that it just doesn’t offer the same kind of control as the original hand controls do. The steering wheel only moves a half turn to the left, and a half turn to the right. So, it takes a while to really get used to keeping your car on the road with it. It is fun having an accelerator and brake pedal at first, but again, it just doesn’t allow you to make those tiny movements when you need to.
You get what you pay for. Otherwise, it works fine with the PS2.

Just bought this for use primarily with Dirt 2. So much better than the analogue controller, I immediately shaved 5-7 seconds off track times. This item is very solidly built and just feels like a quality build all round. I have used a couple of newer Logitech Momo wheels (which are not the same quality as original) and this wheel just feels much better. Nice size, the paddle shifters have a very solid click when shifting and feel very very strong. Pedals are solid and heavy, they don’t slide even on my smooth tile floor unless I get out of control and start hammering the brakes, they have perfect spring tension. Wheel works perfectly with Windows 7 64bit, drivers install and calibration was a breeze. I can’t imagine playing without force feedback now, it just adds a real feeling of immersion to driving. I highly recommend this wheel…oh, and it looks awesome which doesn’t hurt. Only negative is that I have shallow keyboard tray and have to remove it, but I can live with it.

Extremely well made, I bought both G27 and the GT wheel for comparison. At first I wasn’t sure whether the 0 difference is worth it, until I tried both out. Played F1 championship, GT5 prologue, GT5 demo and Dirt 2. If you can foot the bill, G27 is hands down better. Better construction and quality (GT wheel has plastic pedals, G27 has metal paddle and pedals), feels more solid and the force feed back feels accurate and keen.
Another example of this being a well designed product is, on other wheels I’ve tried, the foot pedals are spring loaded with the same resistance. G27 however has different spring rate on the throttle and brake, which makes it extremely realistic. I’m not sure if that was software or hardware controlled but I like it.
There are problems with this wheel, it isn’t fully supported by all the racing games in PS3.
For example, paddle shifting in GT5 prologue doesn’t work (although GT5 HD when it comes out will work, GT5 demo works) so if I want to use manual shift in GT5 prologue I’ll have to use the real 6 speed shifter, and I couldn’t get the buttons to assign correctly in any of the games. So if I need to hit the PS button I actually need to use a controller. There is no documentation on what the default mapping is like (at least tell me where the PS button is, seriously). Paddle shifters do work in F1 champ, Dirt 2, so I’m not sure what the problem is with GT5.
None of the game shows G27 as an available steering wheel controller.
This is not supported on Xbox 360 but I’m curious and I’ll test that out later.

The Logitech Momo Racing Wheel is a very high quality item behind a very low price point. As a sim racer myself, and a relatively new one at that, i found myself looking for the perfect wheel for my budget a few months back. We only have a few options in the 50 to 150 dollar price range. I found the Momo right away and knowing that logitech is a very reputable brand, i ran with it. The full range of options this wheel gives is simplistic yet fitting. So lets go into specifics.
Functionality – 9/10
This wheel has 270 degrees of rotation, 6 face buttons, paddle shifters, moveable sequential shifter, and a pedal board with throttle and brake. First off the 270 degrees of rotation is a turn off to many sim racers. The simple fact is that for under 250 bucks your not going to do any better. It functions just fine in every sim ive raced (which is most all of them). The buttons can be programmed to your liking and have a nice solid clicky feel. Paddle shifters are easy to reach with bear hands like mine. I can see them being an issue for someone with smaller hands. The sequential shifter can be placed left of right and has a solid clicky feel to it. I dont find myself using it too often for its placement is far too close to the wheel. The Pedals are very basic and my least favorite part of this product. They do offer a slip resistence for both carpet (with spike board that pops in and out) and solid floors with rubber feet. All in all the Wheel functions just fine.
Force Feedback – 9/10
Force feedback on this wheel is nothing short of incredible. It is fully custimizable and gives the user complete control of feel.
Software – 7/10
The software is very simplistic and not very impressive. Truth Be told though i have not seen any better really.

If your turned off by the lack of H pattern shifters or a clutch then look toward the 300 dollar price range for a Fanatec or a G25. I compared this racing seat to virtually every other competing product in the market. By leaving no stone unturned I feel I was prepared for the few “downsides” to this product, and as a result I feel really good about this purchase. Let me go into a few more specifics, and keep in mind most of these comments universally apply to any of the Playseats Evolution seats.
Strong points:
- The unit was in perfect condition, well packed, and no blemishes or defects of any kind.
- It looks spectacular. Particularly mated to a g25 wheel, the black and red accents mirrors the black and red of the g25 wheel and it honestly looks like a single kit. Really sporty and eye catching together. I love the black frame. For what it is, it looks pretty hot.
- Incredibly light. If you have carpet it can easily be slid in and out of the room. It would be difficult to lift it alone, but I can slide mine into the viewing room and then out into a storage room in seconds. When you remove the “setup” time, the entire product becomes more valuable and it is this portability that won me over in selecting this over competing products. The kicker is it looks so good I doubt I will move it unless we have formal gatherings.
- It just feels like it was made for the logitech wheels. The included bolts, hole patterns, size of each attachment point…it just goes together so seamlessly.
- Solid. I had concerns regarding wobble in the videos I watched while researching this product. With the logitech wheel I find the unit extremely solid in racing conditions. Keep in mind there is some metal flex and movement. This is one of the tradeoffs for a unit that you can actually move and I was prepared for this. Push hard on the pedals and you can feel the pedal base flex. This is not really a problem as there is no sliding of the pedals/wheel, just a little flexing of the metal that does not impair performance in any way. To get more stability you would be adding weight, and I tend to think Playseats achieved just the right balance. Again, nothing in the unit wiggles, there is just a tiny amount of flexing under forceful use.
- Comfort is fine. Would I choose to sit in this to watch a movie? No, probably not. On the other hand it is conforms well to body shape and is perfectly comfortable for such a light weight seat. The quality of materials is top notch and I noticed no uncomfortable contact points. Again, a great balance between adequate comfort, “racing feel”, and light weight.
The negatives are few. I had heard the support bar in the middle is a problem, and this was my biggest concern. It was totally unfounded. I brake and accelerate with my right foot, and use the clutch with my left foot…just as I do in a real car…and I have never bumped the support bar. I actually enjoy the support bar as I have started to intentionally use it as a guide for where my leg placement should be. The ONLY way I can see the bar becoming an issue is if you wanted to brake with your left foot and use your right for the gas. Otherwise the bar adds to the stability and disappears during the game, just as it should.
The one big con is the adjustment method. The infinite adjustments are wonderful. The problem is every time you tighten the adjustment screws you completely gouge the paint. They should really adopt a clamping system and do a better job of lubricating the joints where it slides. Accept that the bottom bar is going to get scratched up and you will be fine. Functionally it is just fine, and the adjustments are great.
At the end of the day the seat not only met my expectations, it actually surpassed them. The unit looks outstanding and it performs flawlessly with the g25/logitech wheels. Playseats really struck the right balance in this product. It could perform with equal success as a permanent racing cockpit, or as an accessory you slide out of the way when not in use.
Other notes:
- The optional gearshift accessory is great. I find it to be the perfect height despite comments that it is a little low, so that may vary depending on user. It is rock solid.
- I have not tried the microsoft wheel or Forza3. It just looks so great with the black frame and red accents that I havent brought myself to remove the g25. Sorry I can’t comment on the pairing of that product yet.

I think that the wheel itself is excellent for the price. I play Richard Burns Rally with it, and it does its job very well. The wheel itself is sturdy. The clamping system for the wheel to stay put on the desk fits almost anywhere in any position, normal or odd. My desk is on a corner and it fits on the corner of my room. The moniter is on the center where this corner is, so usually, most things have trouble fitting, but this fits almost perfectly. My only trouble I had with installing this was that the software was out of date and was not compatible with XP. It took me a bit to realize that, but the website had the newer drivers. The software itself is confusing and sort of iffy, however, it is not too bad and it does it’s job. Its conveinient but also problematic because the wheel calibrates itself as you play, it’s not a perfect system, but it does the job. The only other qualm I have is that the cord for the pedal to the wheel is short, but I have special requirements so it’s all good.

Formula 1 2007 for PS3, even with its limited steering lock and 720p resolution, is a ton of fun with this wheel and the main reason I bought the G25. This is a very nice wheel and way better than the XBox 360 wheel (the G25 wheel shaft does not wobble), but unless you play PC games, SAVE YOUR MONEY because XBox 360 will not support the G25 and most PS3 game developers are ignoring the G25. The G25 has 900 degrees of steering lock, which is supported by only a handfull of PS3 games including: Codemaster’s “GRID” for PS3 and Gran Turismo HD (obsolete), Gran Turismo 5 Prologue (not mentioned in the manual, so I don’t know if it really works), Midnight Club Los Angeles (haven’t played it), Need for Speed: Undercover and Need for Speed: Shift. Many of the Electronic Arts games for PS3 also support the 6-speed shifter, and force feedback, but I don’t think that any of these games are rendered at a resolution higher than 720p while their counterparts on the XBox 360 are sporting 1080i and 1080p (apparently Sony has yet to grow a spine.) The force-feedback is VERY strong, but there’s no rumble effect and the 6-speed shifter is junk because it does not sense the position of the shifter knob (there is only a button at the far end of each of the 6 shifter positions) so you can put it into gear, but if you don’t hit the button at the back of the slot, the game doesn’t know that you shifted. Only one game I’ve tried so far (Need for Speed: Shift) actually makes use of the clutch pedal. There are many PS2 games that support the G25′s 900-degree and force feedback functions (according to the Logitech website), but I haven’t tried any of them. Perhaps Gran Turismo 5, if it’s ever released, will make full use of this wheel.

Well I got this wheel and it didn’t work as good as I wanted it with the ps2 I had to disable the vibration and it work better but it was perfect when I played Dirt 2
its a good wheel ok if you have a seat that vibrates or build one I build a seat using a nightstand and office chair if you removed the bottom off most office chairs they make great racing seats and I connected some thick gift wrapping tubes to use the vibration coming from the wheel (butt kickers) to the chair its also useful to have these tubes touch your legs or arms I find you can control the focefeed back and enviroment in the games munual so no need for wheel manual
